Cleared to Land

Before diving into this blog post, I have to emphasize the fact that GOD IS REAL!! His existence is undeniable. His timing and the way that He communicates with His children never cease to amaze me. I mean He LITERALLY blows my mind. If I didn't document these experiences in the moment, I might dismiss them as mere coincidences and not acknowledge that God is at work in my life. It is my prayer that we all realize that God is sovereign and His plans for our lives are not random, but strategic.

For the last couple of weeks Galatians 6:7-10 has been in my Spirit. I felt led to share concerning the principal of reaping what you sow. However, not even an hour into typing, I became discouraged because the words wouldn't flow. For a moment I considered abandoning this topic all together and just posting a generic update. I thank God for the Holy Spirit. While my intentions are to uplift, encourage, and inspire others through my writing, I believe the Holy Spirit recognized that I was the one who needed to be encouraged.

In the middle of my doubting and wanting to change topics, I received a message from one of my prayer sisters. The message she sent was titled "A New Season of Harvest". As I read her message I was immediately encouraged. I felt the presence of the Lord and I knew that receiving this Word at this moment was strategic. It confirmed what God had already been speaking to me. In this moment my prayer sister was tangible proof of God's faithfulness.

While typing and getting my thoughts together I kept hearing the words "holding pattern" in my Spirit. At first I ignored it, but the words "holding pattern" and the phrase "you were in holding pattern" wouldn't go away. These were unfamiliar words to me, so I decided to do some research.

After conducting my research (googling), I discovered that holding patterns were associated with airplanes. An airplane goes into a holding pattern when there is an issue preventing them from landing safely. These issues could include bad weather conditions which reduces visibility, icy or crowded runaways which could cause accidents, or an issue with the plane's equipment that required trouble shooting and emergency checklist procedures to be performed. While in a holding pattern, an airplane must fly in an oval loop in a confined area of airspace until the control tower gives the all clear to land.

After reading about holding patterns I was trying to understand how it was relevant to what I was writing about. So I looked into the biblical meaning of holding patterns and was blessed with many teachings on the subject. Oh My Lord!!! I could see the pieces of the puzzle falling into place. I was able to see how sowing and reaping, a new season of harvest and being in a holding pattern all fit together. In this moment I realized that God was giving me a Word of encouragement for my life. Like I said earlier, if I didn't write these things down in the moment I would think I made them up. I know it sounds crazy when I say that God speaks to me, but it's true. I pray that we all have to ears to hear, a heart to receive and faith to believe that God communicates with His children. When we pray and ask for answers, we have to listen with expectancy for His instructions.

As I mentioned earlier Galatians 6:7-10 had been in my Spirit for weeks. Often times when we hear the phrase "you reap what you sow", our minds tend to gravitate toward the negative side of it. We often associate it with the idea that those who do wrong will be punished by God. But God had me focusing on the the other side of this coin. He had me focusing on what happens when people live to please the Spirit.

It's a principal in nature and in the Spirit that the seeds you plant determine your harvest. So, if you're sowing seeds of love, patience, forgiveness, faithfulness, obedience, service, etc. you should expect to reap a harvest of those things back in abundance. Please don't get this confused with works and think that we could ever earn God's favor, grace or blessings. That's not what I'm talking about here, I'm exclusively talking about the principal of getting a return back off of what you've been planting. I pray you're following me.

While I am far from perfect, and when I say far, I mean I'm a hot mess express without God's grace, I can honestly say that I sincerely live to please the Spirit. I pray Galatians 6:9 often, "Lord I have not become weary in doing good. I trust that at the proper time I will reap a harvest because I have not given up". I know that I've been sowing good seed into the ground and I believe that I am going to reap a harvest. But the question is, when? How long will I have to wait? When is the proper time? These are questions I have asked myself these last couple of years as I have waited for God to fulfill the promises He's made to me.

God answered these questions for me today. I realize that these last couple of years I have been in a holding pattern. This season of waiting has felt like it was stagnation, but in reality it was protection. God has intentionally kept me in a confined space where I am able to see and circle my destination while I await further instructions from the control tower. He is strategically and loving clearing the bad weather so when I walked into my new season of harvest I will have clear visibility. God is clearing the icy and crowded runway so when I walk into my new season of harvest I wouldn't slip, collide or have an accident. God is accessing my issues and having me undergo healing, deliverance, pruning and refining before I walk into my new season of harvest. God has been in the control tower the entire time performing surveillance so that when He gives me the all clear I will land safely.

God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so He does not change his mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through? (Numbers 23:19) I'm reminding you as I remind myself that God's Word is true. The principals of God's Word is true. The confirmation you have received over and over again is true. If God spoke it, He will perform it. I don't care what it looks like. I don't care how long it's been. Remember it took Abraham 25 years before he received his promised son. It took David approximately 15 years before he became the promised King. It took Jesus 30 years before He started His earthly ministry and became the promised Savior. So trust God's timing. If you're sowing good seed, God will bless you with a good harvest. That's BIBLE, and the Bible is TRUE!!! If you're in a holding pattern it's for a reason. Trust that God knows best. In the waiting keep your eyes on your destination and your ears attentive to the instructions of the control tower. At the proper time you will hear God say, "You're Cleared to Land".
